Acorn History and Tradition

Acorn Stairlifts is an international, family owned company, employing over 1,100 people worldwide. As well as a significant presence in Canada and the United States, Acorn Stairlifts also has offices in the United Kingdom, Australia, France & Germany.

The History of Acorn Stairlifts

Acorn Stairlifts was formed in 1992 and the business started by buying, reconditioning and reselling stairlifts, as well as buying  new lifts from other manufacturers. Within a very short time, demand outstripped supply and other supply options had to be taken.

Design an all new stairlift

It became obvious that it was necessary to design and manufacture an all-new stairlift, one that had all of the outdated stair lift features removed. The Acorn 120 Stairlift was born, soon to become a market leader, and to this day remains at the forefront of stairlift technology.

The design of the new stairlift was consciously focused on safety, simplicity, ease of use, installation and simple maintenance, in order to  maintain our commitment to exceptional customer service. And, with the acquisition of the manufacturing facilities for the motor & gearbox, Acorn can be confident securing complete control over the quality on the most important moving part of our stairlifts.

In 2001 stairlift awareness in the US was minimal. All of that changed when Acorn brought their international brand to the US by opening their first office in Orlando, FL.

To this day, no other company has done more to bring awareness to the US stairlift market. Offering its customers innovative state-of-the-art stairlift technology, Acorn soon grew to be the largest supplier of stairifts worldwide.

The core of Acorn's business is in the manufacturing, sale and installation of stairlifts, both in the United States and internationally. We offer easy-to-use wireless remote controlled stairlifts for virtually any staircase and that suit a variety of needs, such as disabled, elderly, seniors, and others experiencing difficulty using the stairs.

Acorn now has over 300,000 satisfied customers worldwide, and pride themselves on creating the ultimate in comfort, safety, reliability and ease of use.

Acorn's two most popular models, the Acorn 120 Straight Stairlifts and the Acorn 180 Curved Stairlift, are the most technologically advanced stairlifts available. Built with the user in mind, our complete line of stairlifts include models designed to suit every unique need.

What separates Acorn Stairlifts from its competitors is that everyone who purchases an Acorn product becomes part of the Acorn family.

This is apparent from the first contact, to the first experience riding the # 1 selling stair lift in the world and beyond. We pride ourselves on being available every step of the way.

An Acorn Stairlift is the #1 product
in the industry.
